Additional Food, Housing, Utility & Referral Help

211 NorCal remains a 24/7 referral route for food, housing, utility assistance, transportation, health care, shelters, legal services, senior services, and other local needs. CalFresh remains the statewide food-benefit program; California also has updated 2026 work/community-engagement rules for some recipients, so use the current state page for case-specific information.

Senior Nutrition — Five-Day Meal Support

PRHS says the Senior Nutrition Program provides well-balanced meals five days per week to Pit River Tribal elders and other eligible Native elders in the service area. Meals may be served at the Senior Nutrition building or delivered. The program also provides information and referrals to help elders connect with other resources.

Patient Forms, Privacy, and Intake Help

PRHS keeps current patient-registration forms and patient-rights/privacy information online. New patients are asked to complete registration before the first visit and bring insurance information, picture identification, and Tribal verification when applicable. PRHS also says people without insurance or another coverage resource can ask the Intake Benefits Coordinator about coverage options and the sliding-fee scale. Do not send private patient information through ordinary email; use the clinic’s approved intake and records processes. This stays on the weekly board because access, privacy, and intake are recurring needs even when there is no new announcement.

A new Pit River Tribal Housing flyer opens the Basic Homeownership application period November 1. The flyer says the program will be available to eligible Pit River Tribal families and that applicants must have proof of an approved land assignment at the time of closing. Applications must be complete, signed, and include the required documentation to be considered.

The live PRTHB program page describes Basic Home Ownership as a low- to moderate-income program for Tribal members residing on Tribal land through a land assignment. Confirm current eligibility and application requirements with PRTHB before submitting.

Tribal HHAP3 — Rental Subsidy and Homeless Housing Route

Pit River Social Services currently posts a Tribal HHAP3 application covering rental subsidy, a youth homeless and housing initiative, and a homeless program. The form says services depend on available funding and completing an application does not guarantee assistance.

If housing is unstable or a household is facing homelessness, this is a more direct current route than a general referral list. Keep contact information current with Social Services and confirm which documents are required for the household.

Down Payment Assistance — Up to $20,000

PRTHB currently says eligible applicants may receive up to $20,000 toward down payment and closing costs for an owner-occupied home within the Pit River Tribe’s 100-mile-square ancestral boundaries. The grant is described as once-in-a-lifetime assistance and requires a homebuyer education course. Verify current funding, income rules, and eligibility before relying on an award.

Rehabilitation Assistance — Repair Route

PRTHB’s live Rehabilitation Program page says eligible assistance can be up to $4,999.99 including time and materials, and that assistance is not cumulative and may be received once every two years. Use the current application and confirm what repairs qualify before relying on a dollar amount.

Other Housing Applications — BIA HIP + IHS Sanitation

PRTHB also keeps two important housing routes on its current site. The BIA Housing Improvement Program can support repair, renovation, replacement, or new housing for eligible American Indian and Alaska Native households with no immediate resource for standard housing. The IHS sanitation route can support eligible water, well, septic, and related sanitation work tied to qualifying homes and housing projects.

These programs have their own land-control, feasibility, income, access, and project requirements. Use PRTHB’s current application page and confirm fit before relying on eligibility.

Summer 2026 snapshot · newer status not assumedHousing / Development watch

Housing Development Watch — Tamarack, Montgomery Creek, XL, and Burney

The Summer 2026 Pit River Tribal Housing newsletter provides a useful development snapshot, but it should not be read as an October construction-status report. The newsletter says the 2023 IHBG Competitive award covered nine homes — six at Montgomery Creek and three at XL — and reported one XL home occupied beginning June 26. It describes the Tamarack subdivision as receiving funding for new homes and infrastructure through IHBG Competitive 2024 and ICDBG 2023.

The same newsletter says PRTHB submitted two additional 2026 grant applications: approximately $1.177 million for XL pre-development and $5 million for Burney apartments. Those are described as submitted applications, not awarded funds. Watch PRTHB for a newer status before treating either proposal as funded.

For housing governance questions, PRTHB’s Board page also publishes its current Board roster, governing documents, and agenda policy. The agenda policy says requests to be placed on a regular Board meeting agenda should be submitted in writing at least three business days beforehand; confirm the next meeting directly with PRTHB.

D.I.Y. ART + Ecology — Native Curriculum Classroom Kits Funded

Coastal Commission
$49,988 Whale Tail grant
California Arts Council
$18,715 Arts and Youth award
Combined verified awards
$68,703

Two public state grant records support the supplied announcement that D.I.Y. ART / Ink People has more than $68,000 in funding connected to classroom kits that pair hands-on arts and coastal ecology with Native American Studies Model Curriculum materials. The Coastal Commission describes a Native Advisory Group, classroom kits, teacher training, a Native expert/culture-bearer database, and intercultural-teaching guidance for Humboldt and Del Norte counties. The Arts Council separately funds multimedia classroom lab kits tied to Native Californian-centered curriculum.

The supplied graphic says 48 classroom activity kits; that exact kit count was not located in the two state grant records checked, so the public board does not present 48 as independently verified.

Sources and changes for this issue

Midweek source update · October 14: added posted Zoom access for the October 17 membership meeting, October 19–23 wildfire-planning meetings, and a reader-facing Housing Pathfinder. Housing now also includes the current Tribal HHAP3 rental/homelessness route and PRTHB BIA HIP / IHS sanitation application routes. Housing grant-development claims remain labeled as a Summer 2026 snapshot unless a newer live status was independently located.

Week 42 rolls forward recurring service, jobs, education, safety, and planning doors only when they remain usable. Weather, roads, fire, jobs, health counts, school-board dates, federal legislation, and current events were rechecked October 14; supplied-flyer items remain labeled and unresolved details remain explicit.

Source sweep for Week 42: Pit River employment, Social Services, ICWA, TERO, education, language; federal legislation; Burney weather; SR 299/SR 139; fire and Lassen seasonal conditions; measles; school-board notices; FAFSA/Cobell; NCIDC; and current regional Native-event calendars were checked October 14. A midweek set of first-party Pit River membership/wildfire-planning flyers and Pit River Tribal Housing materials was then added October 14; live Pit River Social Services HHAP3 and PRTHB Other Applications / Board pages were rechecked for the housing reader pass. Supplied source objects are preserved with this release.

Open confirmations kept visible: the October 17 membership Zoom access is now confirmed by a supplied Pit River Tribe flyer. Remaining open points include Auburn Big Time entrance/address confirmation; incomplete public time/location text for THE NEST pumpkin-carving activities; the missing RSVP route on the pine-nuts flyer; unstated hours for the November 4 and 18 People of the West night screenings; and ATALM access/time-zone confirmation at registration.

Calendar cleanup: passed Week 41 action dates were removed from the Week 42 current calendar. The calendar begins October 14 and contains only current/future records through January 5, 2027. Expected school-board dates remain explicitly labeled when an agenda has not posted.

Continuity gate: recurring health, services, jobs, education, family-safety, food, housing, transportation, preparedness, cultural-resource, and planning doors were compared with Week 41. A recurring item was removed only if it expired, was superseded, or could not be safely restated as current.

Moving information: weather, road conditions, fire status, service hours, eligibility, event access, registration, and legislative status can change after publication. Recheck the named source immediately before acting.
