How the Site Is Governed

The rules for protecting, checking, publishing, updating, and correcting The Long Return.

Clear design follows authority. A useful page can still be wrong to publish.
Main rule: easier access never outranks authority, safety, truth, or cultural protection.

Order of authority

Indigenous governance and protected context

Public access does not create cultural authority. Private, protected, confidential, family, personnel, or culturally governed material stays governed before publication.

The Audit

Important claims must answer to evidence, authority, affected people, limits, consequences, and correction.

Sources and verification

Official records, public sources, supplied flyers, community reports, and original analysis are labeled instead of blended together.

The real structure of the work

Essays, reports, frameworks, dossiers, and tools keep their different purposes. The website does not flatten them into one kind of page.

Clear web pages

Authorized public content should explain itself, stay focused, show its status, and link to the next useful page.

Visual design

The black, blue, cream, serif, card-based house style supports the work. Decoration does not control it.

What every public page should answer

QuestionWhat the page should show
What is this?A plain description of the page.
Who is it for?The readers the page is meant to help.
What can I do here? One clear purpose.
Is it current?A date or status when the information can age.
Where did it come from?Sources and any limits on verification.
What comes next?A small set of useful related pages.
How can I correct it?A visible correction route.

Seven publication checks

Authority

Is this appropriate and authorized for public use?

Protection

Could publication expose cultural, family, medical, personnel, or confidential information?

Verification

Are the source, date, claim, and uncertainty shown accurately?

Purpose

Does the page do one clear public job?

Focus

Does the page stay at one level and link out when more explanation is needed?

Aging

Does the page show when its information may become stale?

Correction

Can readers report an error or missing source?

What “include it all” means here

The site publishes only material that is public, authorized, appropriate, and safe to share. Other material is governed or withheld before publication. Clear filters are then used over the public record.
