The Long Return · Relationship

Related, not merged

Three properties, three reader tasks, one responsible home for each complete current work.

Independent civic work by Christopher Knorr. This is not an official Pit River Tribe publication or notice.
Adopted relationship statement

One body of work does not mean one institution.

The Long Return, The Long Meanwhile, and The Long Return Institute are related but distinct. The Long Return is Christopher Knorr's independent civic and public-interest site; The Long Meanwhile, opening September 25, 2026, is the publication home for authored essays and scholarship; and the Institute is an independent public-service institution with its own programs, standards, releases, and corrections. A work does not become an Institute position or a Tribal statement merely because it appears elsewhere in this body of work.

Canonical rule

One complete current work, one responsible home.

Another property may carry a doorway, excerpt, citation, application note, status note, or redirect. It should not silently distribute a competing complete HTML article or PDF.

No automatic adoption

Links do not transfer authority.

The properties may cite and inform one another. Citation, excerpting, or a shared author does not make a Long Meanwhile publication an Institute position, a Long Return report a tribal notice, or an Institute release an authored Long Meanwhile publication.

Author and authority boundary

Christopher Knorr is an enrolled Pit River tribal member living in diaspora. The Long Return is his independent civic work, not an official Pit River Tribe or band publication. Questions of belonging, cultural authority, and protected knowledge remain with the people and authorities responsible for them.

Long Meanwhile status

The Long Meanwhile is scheduled to open September 25, 2026.

Until then, Long Return links lead to the publication-status doorway on this site. The public Long Meanwhile address should not be treated as a finished destination before the opening date.
