Senate Committee on Indian Affairs advanced H.R. 2400 on August 5 with a substitute.

Status

Still pending; not enacted.

No newer Senate enactment or floor action was located in the September 2 public-source sweep. Committee advancement is meaningful progress, but the measure still requires further federal action.

Project

California State Parks says a Career Pathways grant supports Lomakatsi Restoration Project work with the Ajumawi Band and State Parks at Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park.

Focus

Tribal workforce training, wildfire-risk reduction, ecological health, First Foods and cultural resources, and career pathways for Tribal young adults.

This is not presented as a newly opened application this week. It is a current project worth keeping visible because it connects restoration, culture, and workforce development.

CAL FIRE says crews have been in mop-up, patrol, rehabilitation, and hot-spot monitoring.

The incident is much more contained than when it started, but it is still listed as active. Recheck CAL FIRE if you are traveling nearby.

Bug Fire — 100% Contained

The Bug Fire can move out of the active-warning role it held in prior weeks. Keep watching for any lingering closure or smoke information through the responsible land-management source if you are traveling into the affected area.

Humisoil Production Project

Status

The Tribe says the project is nearing completion and has produced its first batch from invasive juniper and other organic materials.

Next stage

After a six-month curing process, the Tribe says the material is intended to support more than 100,000 native plants for greenhouse and food-sovereignty projects.

This is reported project progress, not a claim that downstream greenhouse production is already operating at that scale.
