Status
CAL FIRE lists the Biscar Fire at 69,352 acres and 97% contained. The incident page’s most recent update is July 27.
Evacuation information
The CAL FIRE incident page still displays evacuation warning information for zone LAS-553. Recheck local emergency sources before relying on an older status.
Remaining risk
Containment does not mean all smoke, road, mop-up, or landscape hazards are gone.
Before travel
Check CAL FIRE/InciWeb, AirNow’s Fire and Smoke Map, local road notices, and event organizers.
This corrects the prior board wording, which overstated containment and said evacuations were lifted. Use current official incident and local evacuation information.
One-way controlled traffic at various locations 8–9.5 miles east of the SR 89 junction continues 24/7 through 5:00 PM August 31; motorists are subject to delays up to 15 minutes.
Lassen park
The park is open 24/7 and no entrance reservation is required. Lost Creek Group campground is listed open again August 7–September 16; Juniper Lake campground remains closed while work continues.
Trail caution
NPS trail updates still warn about burned-area hazards; Juniper Lake Road is closed for Dixie Fire repairs.
Travel rule
Allow extra time and recheck conditions immediately before departure.
A general park opening does not prove a specific trail, camp, road, or event site is open or safe.

The official contact page says both locations are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and closed weekends and holidays. Call before traveling for appointments, transportation availability, and routing.

The Tribe reported a one-year award to recruit, train, and employ four youth ages 16–30 in food sovereignty, climate resilience, and land stewardship connected to the Alturas greenhouse.
The award supports band-led cultural burns, workforce training, intergenerational knowledge transfer, native-plant restoration, landscape resilience, and wildfire-risk reduction at XL Ranch.
The Tribe reported funding for federal coordination, consultation, advocacy, and legislative work supporting the Four Corners trust-to-trust land transfer.
The Tribe reported that community members, families, Tribal leadership, advocates, schools, Victim Services, Behavioral Health, and PRHS came together for remembrance, healing, unity, and justice.
First Nations Development Institute lists $50,000 in 2026 support for the Pit River Nation’s Summer Youth Camp.

The funder describes support for an intergenerational Pit River Cultural Youth Camp rooted in Pit River epistemologies and relationship with ancestral territories.
