Pit River Land Transfer Act — Senate Passed With an Amendment

The Senate’s September 30 floor record lists H.R. 2400 as passed with an amendment by unanimous consent. This supersedes the earlier “reported in Senate” snapshot.

Senate passage with an amendment does not establish enactment or completion of a land transfer. Check later House and presidential action in the current bill record.

A flyer in this week’s source packet grouped several bills as being at the Governor’s desk. That snapshot is now partly outdated, so this board uses live status instead. On September 25 the Governor announced signatures on AB 31, AB 1592, AB 1641, AB 1769, AB 1824, AB 1841, AB 2115, AB 2187, AB 2507, and SB 594. AB 1581 and AB 1881 still showed as enrolled and presented to the Governor in current bill tracking checked September 30. AB 1889 was vetoed September 18. AB 2539, a tribal-state gaming compact ratification, was signed September 14.

This is a status summary only. It does not take a position for or against any bill. Use the live bill pages before relying on a status.

3,659 confirmed 2026 cases as of 09/24
California
59 cases in 13 counties as of 09/14

A PRHS health-alert flyer in this week’s packet warns about increasing measles cases and asks community members to protect themselves and their families. Current CDC data supersede the flyer’s earlier national count: as of September 24, CDC reported 3,659 confirmed U.S. measles cases in 2026. CDPH reported 59 California cases in 13 counties as of September 14, with 94% of patients unvaccinated or of unknown vaccination status.

Measles is highly contagious. CDPH advises people with fever and/or an unexplained rash after a possible exposure to call a health-care provider for guidance, and to call before visiting a health-care facility if measles is suspected so others are not exposed. For individual medical advice, vaccination questions, or exposure concerns, contact a health professional directly.

211 NorCal remains a 24/7 referral route for food, housing, utility assistance, transportation, health care, shelters, legal services, senior services, and other local needs. CalFresh remains the statewide food-benefit program; California also has updated 2026 work/community-engagement rules for some recipients, so use the current state page for case-specific information.

Senior Nutrition — Five-Day Meal Support

PRHS says the Senior Nutrition Program provides well-balanced meals to Pit River Tribal elders and other eligible Native elders in the service area five days per week, either at the Senior Nutrition building or by delivery. The program also provides information and referrals to help elders connect with other resources.

Pit River Housing — Down Payment Assistance

Pit River Tribal Housing Board currently describes a down-payment program of up to $20,000 toward down payment and closing costs for eligible owner-occupied homes within the 100-mile-square ancestral boundaries. The program requires a homebuyer education course and is described as once-in-a-lifetime assistance. Verify current funding and eligibility before relying on an award amount.

Patient Forms, Privacy, and Intake Help

PRHS keeps current patient-registration forms and patient-rights/privacy information online. New patients are asked to complete registration before the first visit and bring insurance information, picture identification, and Tribal verification when applicable. PRHS also says people without insurance or another coverage resource can ask the Intake Benefits Coordinator about coverage options and the sliding-fee scale. Do not send private patient information through ordinary email; use the clinic’s approved intake and records processes. This stays on the weekly board because access, privacy, and intake are recurring needs even when there is no new announcement.

November Planning

The Burney Entrepreneurship Boot Camp runs November 3–19. PRHS lists a November 10 cooking class and November 24 class. Boys With Braids California’s 10-year anniversary conference is listed for November 21 at Santa Rosa Junior College; confirm final organizer details before travel.

Sources and changes for this issue

Core sources checked September 30, 2026. This issue uses live Pit River Tribe, Pit River Health Service, Caltrans, National Weather Service, CDC, CDPH, GovInfo, NCIDC, Redding Rancheria, IITC, current event-source pages, and the new Education Watch source ledger. The 21-page community source packet was reviewed visually; future-dated items were promoted only when useful and sufficiently attributable.

Source-packet additions used: PRHS measles alert; PRHS fall cooking-class schedule; the Victim Services cultural-instructor call; current PRHS employment flyer; the California tribal-bills snapshot (rechecked against live bill status before publication); and the October 12 IITC event flyer.

October 3 update: added the buildings and services briefing (web overview, full reader edition, and unchanged PDF), election-card comparison, ATALM resources, and Pit One Grade project information. Expanded the existing Berkeley item with the supplied flyer and the Grand Entry discrepancy. Updated H.R. 2400 from the Senate floor record and replaced the expired SR 299/139 control presentation. These are selected updates; the rest of the core issue retains its September 30 evidence date.

October 1 update: the Modoc Ancestral Run, Traditional Resiliency Gathering, Tribal Wildfire Resilience Meeting, Stories We Carry link, and Check-In calendar layer were added after the September 30 source pass. Their listed event details should still be rechecked with the named host before travel or participation.

Items deliberately not published as current: September 25 California Native American Day notices, the September 29 cooking class, September 30 noon parenting class and conference presentation because their action window had passed by this issue; a private BIA certificate because it contains personal information; advocacy graphics because the Check-In reports status rather than adopting a political position; and a non-event nonprofit infographic because it did not clear the evidence/usefulness threshold for this weekly board.

Education Watch link audit: the new desk already had working links from Watch Desk, Community Reports, Plans & Decisions Watch, Week 39, the sitemaps, and the content index. Week 40 adds a direct homepage doorway because the prior architecture made the new section technically reachable but easier to miss than a standing section should be.

Continuity gate: recurring service, jobs, education, safety, food, housing, transportation, and planning doors were compared with Week 39. A recurring item was removed only if it expired, became inaccurate, was superseded, or no longer served the weekly board.

Moving information: weather, roads, jobs, service hours, eligibility, event access, registration, and legislative status can change after publication. Recheck the named source before acting.
